Terrible weather is inspirational? I was at that show. I wish I could say I remember that Mack the Knife, but unfortunately I have a rotten memory for set lists. (Not that it was much like a song. Probably just seemed like goofing around or tuning at the time.)

Basically what I remember is that the drive was dark, cold, and either snowy or rainy (although that could go for just about any Ohio show, LOL), the auditorium had maybe a few thousand people (also par for the course then), and the mood was kind of underground-ish. I've read the band was the highest-grossing touring band in the country at that point, but it really didn't feel like it in Ohio.

Thanks for the reminder! It's really fun to hear it again. A lot of Brent's playing is the organ, which I like, and IMO fits the whole dark-and-rainy-night mood of Ohio shows :-)

BTW, just for context, this show and the Pittsburgh show the night before were the band's first ones after the 2nd '81 Europe tour.

yes they played europe in 72 and 74, but they played in both March and October of 1981 as well, which I believe is what AR meant by "2nd '81 Europe tour" .

Another great "fall" run. Check out all the hot shows all the way to the culmination on New Years. 12/3 & 12/5 are some of my favorites. I'm going to re-visit 11/29 & 30 thanks to your reminder.

Crummy weather never bothered us. It was always toasty inside and the boredom of chocolate milk skies seemed to lead to inspired playing. The only complaint I had was standing on the ice on the floor in all those hockey arenas. I attribute TAIDS directly to that.
